The National Institute of Design (NID) released the B.Des provisional offer letter for NID Ahmedabad and NID Assam campuses on June 5, 2025. Also, the NID M.Des provisional offer letter for round -2 was released on June 5 at admissions.nid.edu. Candidates can view and download their provisional offer letter accordingly, using email address and date of birth. The B.Des candidates must pay the remaining semester fees between June 11 to 16, 2025.

The NID selection process 2025 includes an entrance exam, which consists of two parts: Prelims and Mains, followed by counselling. The NID DAT exam is one of the most commonly appeared design entrance exams. The National Institute of Design conducts the NID DAT every year to select the best students across India. The Bachelor of Design Course is available across NID Ahmedabad, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, and Assam campus. However, Master of Design Course is offered in the NID Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Bangalore campuses only. For the NID selection process, students appeared for the NID DAT exam. This NID DAT 2025 was conducted on January 5. The student should note that the NID DAT exam had prelims and main exams in it.
The NID DAT Prelims is a pen and paper-based exam which was conducted through textual and visual-based questions. The exam was conducted on the same day across all the centres in India. The students appearing for the NID DAT exam could download the NID DAT admit card 2025 before the exam and take a printout of the same.
A merit list was prepared for each category based on the DAT prelims marks that the students have acquired. The separate list included the following categories, General, General EWS, OBC NCL, SC, ST and PwD. The shortlisted candidates were allowed to appear in the NID DAT mains exam and the schedule of which was announced on the official website.
The DAT Mains exam is only for the students who were shortlisted in the DAT Prelims exam. The DAT mains exam for MDes consisted of a Studio test and interview. The total marks of the student was calculated based on the weightage of the exams.
The NID selection process for MDes includes the NID DAT mains exam which only allowed the students shortlisted in prelims to take part. The candidates must know that the NID selection process for MDes consists of studio test and interview rounds. The studio test had exams of different formats and was conducted only in the English language. The interviews was conducted separately for each discipline in the centre of the Studio test itself.
Incase two or more candidates have same marks in the NID DAT Prelims exam the following steps were taken to do a tie breaker:
The higher rank will be given to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in Part B of the DAT Prelims.
If this does not break the tie, higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in Part A of the DAT Prelims.
If this still does not break the tie, then both the candidates will be assigned the same rank.
Similarly, during the NID selection process for BDes Mains Exam these rules will be applied to do a tie breaker.
A higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in DAT Mains.
If this does not break the tie, a higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in Stage 1 Design Aptitude Test.
If this does not break the tie, a higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in Stage 1 Design Aptitude Test Part B.
If this does not break the tie, a higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in Stage 1 Design Aptitude Test Part A.
If this still does not break the tie, a higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in the question of DAT Mains exam which carries maximum marks.

The candidates’ final marks for MDes program was calculated based on the marks obtained in the prelims and mains exam. The result for NID DAT prelims and mains was announced as per scheduled date.
When two or more candidates scored the same in the Prelims exam of the NID DAT exam the following steps were taken to break the tie:
The student will be given higher rank who has obtained higher marks in DAT Prelims (Part 2 or 3)
If this does not break the tie, a higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in DAT Prelims (Part 1).
If this still does not break the tie, then both candidates will be assigned the same rank.
The candidates having a tie in the NID DAT Mains exam need to know that the tie-breaker is done through the following.
The higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in DAT Mains.
If this does not break the tie, higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in DAT Mains - Studio Test.
If this does not break the tie, higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in DAT Prelims.
If this still does not break the tie, then the same rank will be assigned to the candidates.
Finally, aspirants who have qualified for both Prelims and Mains are required to participate in the NID counselling 2025 process. Based on the marks obtained, aspirants will be allotted a seat in the NID campuses.
