In the revised selection process, candidates must first clear the NID prelims cutoff. The institute does not consider the prelims score while deciding the NID 2026 Mains cutoff. The NID cutoff 2026 will include the NID B.Des cutoff 2026 and NID M.Des cut-off 2026 separately for each of the participating NID campuses for each of the categories. Candidates have to first clear the NID prelims cut-off and then also clear the NID 2026 final cut-off to secure admission.
The NID entrance exam consists of two components - prelims and mains. As per the revised selection criteria for NID DAT 2026, the NID prelims is a qualifying exam for the mains. The scores obtained in the NID prelims will not be carried forward. Instead, the final selection of the candidates will be done based entirely on the scores obtained in the mains.
