How to get admitted to NID?

National Institute of Design is the leading design institution in India offering admission to design aspirants. Candidates willing to seek NID admission 2025 have gone through the National Institute of Design course admission 2025. The applicants checked the NID eligibility criteria 2025 and moved forward for the further process. Aspirants applying for Bachelor of Design (BDes) and Master of Design (MDes) programmes appeared for the NID DAT exam.

NID DAT is a national level entrance exam conducted once in a year that comprises of two stages - Prelims and Mains. Candidates who qualified in the NID prelims exam were eligible and appeared for the NID Mains exam. The NID DAT mains exam for MDes consisted of a Studio test and an Interview and for BDes it was a studio test only. • Candidates who have passed class 12 in any stream (science, arts, commerce, humanities) from any recognized board such as CBSE, IB, ICSE or equivalent were eligible for admission at NID.

• Candidates who appear for 10+2 in that academic year were also eligible to apply.

MDes - NID Eligibility Criteria

NID offers MDes programme for a duration of 2.5 years. The MDes eligibility criteria includes age limit and also academic qualification described below.

To be eligible for the NID MDes programmes, the candidates must have one of the following qualifications:

• Minimum 4-year of bachelor degree in any specialisation, after 12th standard or equivalent to 12th from any university and/or institute recognized by the law in India.

(or)

• Minimum 4-year full-time diploma of duration in Design/ Fine Arts/ Applied Arts/ Architecture, after 12th standard or equivalent to 12th standard, from university and/or institute recognized by the law in India.

(or)

• Minimum of 3-year bachelor degree in any specialisation, after 12th standard or equivalent to 12th standard from university and/or institute recognized by the law in India.

• Candidates who are in their final year of bachelor degree / full-time diploma programme are also eligible to apply.

NID Application Process 2025

Candidates could register for the NID entrance exam 2025 in online mode. The NID 2025 application forms were available at the official website - admissions.nid.edu. Aspirants willing to pursue design courses had to fill out the NID application form 2025 and submit it online. The candidates then received the NID admission login credentials after successful registration. The applicants had to submit the forms before the NID 2025 application form last date. During the NID application process, candidates had to pay the NID application fee provided in the official brochure as per the category.

NID Counselling Process

NID counselling is the final stage to offer NID admission. The authorities conducted the NID counselling process for the students who were shortlisted in the DAT prelims and DAT mains exams. The selected candidates had to go through a document verification process and confirm their seat allotment.

The NID admission seat allocation was based on the candidate’s merit list, category, and the seat availability. Also, the candidates had to pay the NID admission fee for seat confirmation.

The NID authorities released the NID DAT cutoff for the entrance exams - prelims and mains. NID DAT cutoff is the minimum score required for the candidates to move further level and obtain admission. The NID 2025 cutoff was prepared based on certain factors such as the total number of students who appeared for the exam, availability of seats, NID DAT exam difficulty levels, and the previous year's cutoff trend.
